The Landrum / Humphries Duo

The Landrum / Humphries Duo
Rhubarbary Guest Concert

Presenting in a House Concert at the Rhubarbary Farm:

Dan Landrum and Stephen Humphries explore the realms of possibility on large, dampered hammered dulcimers. The duo’s often jaw dropping arrangements weave from traditional fare to impressionistic percussiveness. See and hear in person why these trapezoidal oddities continue to capture the imagination of audiences worldwide.

Stephen Humphries, the 2007 National Hammered Dulcimer Champion, is quickly becoming one of America’s premier hammered dulcimer soloists and clinicians. Stephen recently earned his Bachelor of Arts in Music, with an emphasis in Percussion Studies, at Presbyterian College in Clinton, South Carolina. With this education, as well as experience in a variety of performance settings and festivals, Stephen brings a solid percussive, classical, and contemporary approach to the hammered dulcimer. He is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Music Education at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee.

Dan’s hammered dulcimer playing has taken him from street performances in Chattanooga, TN, to Olympic Ceremonies and Presidential Inaugurations. He has performed at multiple festivals around the country and major stages in hundreds of cities from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles to New York’s famed Madison Square Gardens. Since 2003, he has been a soloist in the Yanni Live tour. This performance is currently being televised as a PBS special. Dan lives in Signal Mountain, TN, and does his best to balance a schedule of touring, teaching, and writing, while occasionally finding enough time to street perform at the Tennessee Aquarium.

In 2006, Dan and his wife, Angie, took over publication of the internationally distributed Dulcimer Players News magazine. DPN is a full color quarterly publication for dulcimer enthusiasts, which includes a CD with each issue. It has been in print since 1974.
